SECRET OS MAVERICKS FIXES IN SECOND LIFE!

A New Apple OS means Secret Fixes to make it work

Not a lot of people are on Macs in SL. But those that are know that a new OS (operating system came out this weekend).

A few things that you should know

1. It takes at least 40 mins to download it. So don't do it if you are busy.
2. Things will take a while to open. The older your computer, the longer it will take.
3. If your computer is older, things will run slower. If it's newer, it should be the same or faster.
4. Some programs like iLife are getting big changes. So maybe wait to change if you are in a big project and don't have time to re-learn it.

So what's that mean to your SECOND LIFE?

• If you do load OS X Mavericks, and you use FIRESTORM, you need to do a CLEAN INSTALL (or a lot of your files will go missing and you will panic like I did!)

Also, like Mountain Lion, you'll probably need to make one small fix to get VOICE working in Firestorm on your Mac

Below are the TWO SECRETS you need to do a CLEAN INSTALL on your MAC after the break.





STEPS FOR A CLEAN MAC INSTALL

- Go into APPLICATIONS and trash your FIRESTORM

...Now for the SECRET...

- Go to your finder (just click the backdrop on your Mac)

- Click on GO. Then hit OPTION. When you do, you'll see LIBRARY

- Click on that LIBRARY

- Trash the FIRESTORM folder in both APPLICATION SUPPORT and CACHES (although you may  want to save these files because you lose your histories).

Now you are ready.


TO FIX VOICE IN FIRESTORM

- Go to PREFERENCES in your Firestorm AVATAR section

- Go click on SOUND & MEDIA

- Click VOICE SETTINGS

- Click AUDIO DEVICE SETTINGS

- Toggle to INPUT only to BUILT-IN MICROPHONE

- Click SAVE.


Then you can talk again! Yay!
