Pornstars Poll Result : You Wanna Be A Porn Movie Star!

I know our 'Where Are We At?' Poll may have surprised a few people. The results showing a majority of Pornstars visiting and voting want to be Second Life Porn Movie Stars!  ( 48% voting to be a Movie Star to 30% who wanted to be Porn Photo Models. The remaining votes split between Glam/Erotic and Magazine Pin Up.). A contradiction to how many see the Porn scene right now. With photography often seen by many as #1.

Why is this? I think despite the advantages photography has over movies, ie it's quick and easy to follow even if you're away from your computer, on phones, tablets etc. It also has many more 'producers' offering more opportunities for more models ( members.) to participate. In turn meaning it's a hugely diverse part of porn, with so much hot content produced and seen daily.

Being a 'movie star' though still has that x factor and glamour attached. Even though movies may not release to quite as much fanfare as they once did on the scene generally, they still mean a hell of a lot to those who produced them, and star in them, and to those close to those people too. Being a porn movie star is still a hot, and cool thing to be! it was a big enough deal to launch this Blog and The Pornstars Group in Second Life back in the day, and build what we have today, and it still is.

My advice to movie makers is market the hell out of your productions. Create nice screen shots and content for Flickr which in turn gets you an audience from the Photo following crowd, and also allows bloggers like Katina here on The Pornstars Blog to use that material and cover the movies right here. Katina is doing a great job of putting movies back on the map, and in turn bringing back their appeal on the scene. Adding to your exposure.

If you steer people to a movie you're truly proud of the audience will enjoy it. Pornstars movie producers may all be at different places on the learning curve, but wherever you are, effort and creativity shine through, and are usually appreciated and enjoyed.

I'd like to thank some really great Blog followers who left superb comments following the post which launched this poll. I've published them after the jump!

I'd also like to say i hope we can have a group where all genres of Second Life Porn are equally appreciated and seen. Many photography projects have equal effort and creativity in them compared to many movies. They are erotic works of art, which have really built this scene up to amazing heights. So to say photography is 'easy' or 'easier' is a myth. My latest photo/comic was much more involved than my early simple movies for example.

Magazines too are establishing themselves as a big medium on our scene, they also have a really sexy, and glamourous aura attached to them. They are hot and fun to be involved with. They will keep on growing because their owners and publishers are dedicated, hard working, and creative. The models involved in photography and magazine work too are just getting mind blowingly great!

Any members at the top of their game and working hard to produce Photo's, Movies, or Magazines, are doing an awesome job and they should all be equally proud of contributing. Models, Actresses, and Actors too who work hard to present themselves as pure sexiness! and their investment in doing so means they deserve huge praise also.

A big thanks to all the Movie Makers, Photographers, Magazine Publishers, and to all those appearing in all their projects, you're all well and truly The Sexiest®!!!

you mean you only have a few months on me :P I'll be celebrating my 5th year in our community in September, I am the least stuck up person I know, but sometimes I think I need to pull my head out of my ass, because change is good, I can tell you that back in the day I highly doubt anyone would of come to the rescue of a fellow member in need, I can't express how much love I have for this community and how thankful I am to all of you, there really isn't enough words to show you what you all mean to me, and I have to say that there are some things I liked better back in the day but things change some for the better and I still wouldn't change a damn thing, I would like to see more movies again but that's just cuz it's harder to masturbate to pics then to movies :p Just kidding!! or am I? ok I'll stop rambling now but first one more thing I LOVE this community and there is not a better one anywhere in SL

I've been around a lot of different SL communities over the years and my experience suggests to me that the SL Porn Community is the most vibrant. It's seen the most change of any community I have personally been a part. For myself I do not care to think in terms of right or wrong. The 'Cummunity' simply is.Wishing for something, anything, to be something other then it is seems pointless. Just as there are different types of musical expression there are different types of erotic expression. The more expression there is, no matter the format that expression takes, the better for the whole (hole?). My hope for the "Cummunity" is that it continue to grow and expand into any and all forms of Erotic Expression. I genuinely think the world is a better place if the world had more erotica in it and less shame about it. Myself I will continue to make movies and write stories as I cannot for the life of me take an interesting photo. But I do quite enjoy the mountains of mammaries being photographed and posted. So keep up the good works and keep expanding on what erotica means to you.

The number of people doing photography has exploded while movies seems to have turned over.. it's a totally different group of people than what it was just 2 years ago when I started doing movies! Mesh has totally changed everything..

I still do my own photography myself (mostly on Saturdays), so it's not that I hold a grudge against anyone doing photography.. I have such a warm place in my heart for movies, maybe it's those old Hollywood dreams of making and starring in movies and hearing from random strangers, "omg you made ____! I love that!" and I made it.. wow!!

I love this community and I wouldn't have it any other way.. well, maybe more ways for people to learn skills and try different styles if they want, but that's another topic..

Ive been a member of the groups for coming on four years now and one of the most important aspects of it to me is the wonderful long term friendships I have made. Other friends have come and gone but what holds the pornstar groups together is working together on projects I believe. Take Bewitched Difference and myself, we have been best friends for almost two years and met though the groups, we love working together and get many of our ideas from random chats and shopping sprees. Not forgetting of course that I met my wonderful Husband Crow at a pornstar party! I think the group has grown so much from just porn when i joined, now the amount of amazing erotic *artists* in the group has blossomed, so much so that I don't feel we are on the fringes of SL life but right out there in front being creative, vibrant and fun!

I think that flickr has done amazing things for the photography community in SL, most importantly by the tight networking of friends and friends of friends, exposure is easy and fast. Flickr accounts are fast and painless to create, and everyone has one even if just to post their unedited snapshots in one convenient place. It's very clear that photography has eclipsed movies for this reason more than any other: people will see and have a chance to appreciate the work that you do.

Movie production, while rewarding, has much less exposure simply because there is no social media platform that inherently supports the medium, especially not to the ubiquity that flickr has become for photos. The barriers to entry are higher (software, PC capable of recording at high framerate and graphics setting). There are outliers in every case, Miss Emily and the Club Erotique crew for example, but for the majority of people, photography just makes more sense.
