Magazines in Second Life are a really popular choice, for reasons we tried to investigate in the past already. The simple act of working on an issue and 'finish' it brings some virtual tangibility and a sense of closure and fulfilment, and a new issue and a new challenge are soon ahead. Challenges that require to focus the efforts of a team towards a common goal and project. Is the project worth it? Does the magazine have a vision? From their blog page, let's see what the creed of this new creation is...

The industry is huge and fascinating, and can open your world to an abundance of possibilities you never experienced or even thought of yet. Sex is also our passion, and for this reason we decided to create SX Magazine. Through our open approach to each topic, we want to share that passion with you."

Needless to say, this is pretty much what bring our group together as well, with the label of 'Pornstars' for individuals who portray sex in so many different ways. There's more.


Ivanna Hanni is one of the individuals interviewed by Gaheris Edelmann for his insightful article about BDSM.

" While you will find stunning, arousing, and downright naughty art here, we pride ourselves on being a magazine that focuses on the wonderful individuals and concepts of the sex industry. We aren't centered around page volume so much as bringing you quality photos and information with each issue. We are all about the buildup and release of interesting ideas, viewpoints, and information. "

The goal of the magazine in this first issue is very clear and as declared. SX Magazine is a new magazine, but the presentation is state of the art, and that should come to no surprise when you consider that the creator, Virgil (Virgilius08) has a proven experience with the very demanding format of the comic book.

Virgil's excellent design is supported the photography of someone who is a true revelation to me: Maya Bones (syataha Resident). You could not tell at all that this is Maya's first magazine. Her style of photography seems to be made for this task. She's not the only one providing photography: Erika Madazzhatter did a very professional job, and there are of course the original photos by the covergirl and pornographer (but also artist...fucking photographer or not!) Tatiana Easterwood.


The everlasting debate!

With this kind of quality in the photos and the presentation up to the standard, I think I am not gonna be misunderstood when I say that the strong point of the issue lies in the written word. As mentioned above in the presentation, a bountiful page volume is not the main worry of the maker, but rest assured that this issue has a 'lasting' power greater than publications 10 times its size. (Is that why you took so damn long to write about it, Kat? Oh shut up, voice in my head).
But there's also another bit from the intro that I left out...

" Because we love the SL sex industry, its artisans and concepts, we've decided to kick off the birth of SX Magazine by organizing the SX Magazine Awards. The awards are open to photographers, models, directors and actors. This is our way of celebrating the SL adult business and its people, showing everyone in our second world what our wonderful artists can create."



Ah damn it! Just as I THOUGHT that we were done with the Sexiest Awards thing and all...
Okay, here's the deal.

You have to read more about this contest , on theSX Magazine blog, and on the magazine itself. In fact, in the upcoming new issue you WILL read more about it. More than you can imagine.

It's a special pleasure for me to talk about this issue of...

Aroused! Magazine



Hey, rather basic opening for the post, but it will be all about substance, much alike the magazine. Hopefully you are familiar with this magazine already! This is the second year of Marika Blaisdale's Aroused, and we are one issue away from 40. Quite a journey it has been!

Soon in a theater near you: 'Dance with Swallows'. Robin Rondini as the hot male lead, no Kevin Costner.

The issue was a little tough to find the balance of. I admit, I feel in retrospect that it's even a 'too' packed issue, with a great amount of talent in it and some of the finest work from those photographers. But I was getting impatient to release it, and after the next issue we are probably going to take a little holiday break for our RL schedules. So, keeping in the storage room some of these sets could lead to an even more crowded midsummer edition.

Yep, that is EXACTLY what happens for every issue. Revision is such  a tough job.

Melina Jameson has 2 photosets in this issue that will be very difficult to top in the next one. One is very special for me, all about Melina's faculty to set up fun scenes and do homages the way both Marika and I enjoy best: in a light hearted (and porny!) way. It was lovely to have models like Kei Frequency, Mellie Criss and Simoni Tigerfish for it !
Now for the second shoot, it's called Dreams come true, and it's all about Melina's artistic skills as an erotic photographer. The quality is stellar, the models Sandra Palletier and Ashlynn Jameson are icons of our porn world and meaningful ones for Melina, and it is the photoset that gave me the hardest time choosing, this issue or the next? Especially because...

Sandra would certainly be a great NSA airport inspector...

....well, because Sandra Palletier was set to be in this issue already, with a -wonderful- set of her own! You have seen in these years of Sandra pictures several encounters of hers with the delicious Delicence, but I think this set from the issue is as good as it can get. Sandra has always been one of the most enthusiastic and consistent contributors to Marika's magazine(s), and I am grateful for this opportunity to feature her once again.

I don't believe I ever featured Nicasio Ansar in three photosets in a single issue, but he had the most captivating models in the duo of Dora Lane and Ziekel and he made my day, week and month by shooting one of the most interesting and beautiful stars of our scene, the ever modish Sandy Miggins. And yeah well, he insisted on taking pics of me too, so whatever, Nica. You win.

No, not making a 'getting wet' joke right now. Later at the party I might, ok?

Now, in my blog posts I try always to give priority to personalities who identify themselves with the porn scene or Sexiest Group in general, so I won't mention a lot about the contribution to the magazine by the trio of friends Aloyssia Hema, Loly Hallison, Marika Djannovic, but their work for Aroused speaks volumes, and I am grateful for their punctuality, committment and helpfulness. Same goes for Erika Madazzhatter, that I am going to mention also for her recent quality work for another really cool mag!

I don't want to make an overlong post about the magazine of my partner, but it was so difficult to pick a cover, even more difficult to not single out every one here for their skillful performance. Rachel Swallows' set is creative magic, Woiven is one of the talents in group that I am enjoying featuring the most these days with her artistic talents and versatility, and Rachel Avro gave this magazine a photoset that can make the sultry model Severina truly proud. Makes ME proud for sure to have been able to feature that!

Okay, somehow I made it to the end of this post, with so much more to say, but I'll settle for this! I need to remind you about to get this thing, right? Marketplace. Issuu. Kiosks.
Also... Aroused! magazine has a presence in world thanks to that Nicasio guy, who set up a gallery for us in his AMAZING, really and seriously amazing sim. Heck, maybe it's not even a good choice to have a gallery there, the sim is so cool it's distracting! Ok well, don't want to oversell it, but I'm trying to be cheeky here and say, that we are going to try and put really cool photos there so you are not tempted to look outside.

You know, PJ homages Aroused in this set with B.E.N. and Sasquatch...oh, can't see it? Take a look at the whole set!

We are starting the summer exhibits with the opening party for someone loaded with melanine (must be, to cover that large buttockal area of hers), the Partee girl herself Parthenea! Today at 7-9 PM SLT, with Dj Stacia Reinoir! Wait, what else should we say about it? Oh, well! there will be cool stuff! Ask me about it in-world!

Oh my, it has been a week already, got Aroused yet? See what I did there? Talking about...

Aroused! Magazine



Talking about the erotic magazine of course! The biggest fun by far putting together a magazine like that is to see what the photographers come up with, and in this case, I had a wonderful surprise in the guise of my partner Marika Blaisdale getting very creative with the cover there. I love her talent for this sort of creative presentation.

But enough already with the private notes, and on to the goods. Aroused! was very happy to showcase and present the work of remarkable artists, covering the many nuances of the 'erotic and porn' scene in SL. Much alike this blog and the Sexiest Pornstars group, which counts amongst its members many who don't consider themselves pornstars but have an interest in the erotic, sensual, unrestrained side of art, Aroused has always offered to its photographers the whole gamut of choices to express themselves, and brought to its viewers the results in their original material.

This issue so proudly presents the shoots of some of the most prominent pornstars such as Zuby Gloom, Ali Lancrae, Sandra Palletier who pull out all the stops in their sets, together with the more restrained sensual eroticism brought by Aloyssia Hema and Loly Hallison, plus the dainty portrait views featured by Erika Madazzhatter, Rachel Avro, Sunday Whitewood, and one heartfelt homage from Evangeline Ling to her partner Bella for their anniversary.

 

It would have been certainly a Sin to keep stocked in the Aroued ! warehouse this set by Sandra...

I appreciate a lot the way the artists have incorporated so many models in this issue, far from the 'records' of previous issues but all of them appearing in truly memorable photographies. In no particular order, i am talking about Damien Godard, Cream Release, Racheal Rexen, Stacy, Curtis Trevellion, Dargonis Dufaux, Mirko Panacek, Nakuru Bergamasco, Sasquatch Rhino, Virgil, Jake Raven and a lot more not involved in the 'adult' community in the traditional sense!

And with a particular appreciative look at the wonderful photographer and one gracious model so very intriguing in her looks, PJ Thornton shot by Marika, and to the gorgeous Anyka Aiseiri, one of the finest photographers in our scene and a delightful subject for Nicasio Ansar in one of his two shoots, each worth seeing also for the contrast in the beauty of his subjects.

We had also the pleasure of presenting the magazine during a Pornstars Party, thanks to the efforts of Yana Grau, during which we received more subscription on the in-world kiosks.
